I don't usually post contest pics or pics I do for other people, but this one was so much fun, I couldn't resist. The character is Raesha (copyright Raesha aka M. Doorenbos), a grey-skinned, ragged-winged, murderously vengeful elf. How cool is that? Heh. Quite.

Done for Raesha's contest. Thanks so much to her for allowing me to post her cool character here.

The usual. Drawn in Photoshop from start to finish. I used about a half dozen reference pics for the crossbow (and still couldn't get it quite right). Used myself for body reference, although I had to fudge a lot of it since I don't have that kind of physique (unfortunately).

By the way, the crossbow is very good. Mine is a bit shorter in length, but they do make them that long.

Oh thanks. That was one of the things I wasn't sure about. All the pics I referenced were shorter between the trigger and the actual bow. But a shorter length didn't quite look right to me, so I took liberties and elongated it. Thanks for letting me know.

You're welcome. Yeah, the longer ones are extremely rare, just because it's so powerful a weapon that not many could shoot one that long without dislocating a shoulder or so. They can be custom ordered from those that make them though, my uncle has a long one like in your drawing and he's pretty strong but has loooong arms and so it works out. Yours is just fine. I don't think too many people know the specifics on a crossbow anyhow, since they're illegal in most places so you shouldn't get many people telling you that it's too long anyways. :)
