I've wanted to do a picture based on the scenery from Guilin, China for a long time. This is based off of several photos my dad took while on a trip there. I've never been there though. I'd love to go someday.
The usual, start to finish on Photoshop. I think this took about 20 hours, give or take a little.
Amazing. The scenery is gorgeous. I'd love to see those photos
No trees though? o_O; Doesn't matter really, was just curious.
I've only two (serious) questions : How do you do hair like that? *gonk*
What is on the red ..erm...banner, just above the man's head? They look almost like eyes but I'm not sure

Wow. This is beautiful. The soft and dark colors and the motion blur on the flag, it's really great. I'm glad to see you submitting! I feel like it's been a while.

Gorgeous; it almost looks like a picture!
The scenery looks amazingly realistic and the details on the person in front are also great. The picture really draws you in, it has that special feel about it.
yes! excellent middle ground between the the grey and yellow versions that you showed before.. it portrays the feel that you were wanting, without the oversaturation and loss that was present
Thanks. And yeah, I keep telling my dad he should get a DA account. He and my mom travel a lot, and he's got some really nice photos.
Hmmm... hair. I do a really messy blob of a base color, then use the smudge tool (set on a hard edge, medium size, and strong smudge pressure) to shape it into an overall shape (including large clumps of strands).
For highlights, I add a highlight color in thick lines perpendicular to the direction of the strands. (It looks terrible, like a huge long blob in the hair.) Then smudge the highlight color in lines parallel to the strands. (I'm not sure if that makes sense.)
And for details, I use the brush tool set on a tiny diameter and use both the base and highlight colors to add lose strands here and there. I try not to make them too uniform to each other. A little looseness and messiness is nice.
Not sure if that made sense or not. I hope it did. Oh, and for black hair, I usually only use maybe 2 or 3 colors. But for other shades (like blonde, especially) I use many more colors.
The thing on the flag? It's just some random design, mostly obstructed by his big fat head.
I really like the subtlety of the water, as well as the textures of his clothing. :3

Yeah, I didn't post anything from January to May. Was really busy, and I never had a chance to really do anything worth posting then.
