The Telephone Game has now come to an end! Thanks so much to everyone who participated! This has been really fun to watch. You can view the results here (there are still a couple of pictures out that I will be adding as they come in):
view resultsFor those of you who haven't heard of this, it's similar to the Telephone Game people play at parties. I drew pictures and sent them to the first artists in 4 teams. Each artist looked at the pic for a few minutes, memorized it, and re-created it to the best of their abilities. Then they passed it on secretly to the next person in line.
The point was to see how well people could remember and re-create it, and to see how much the images stayed the same or evolved. (Although I think some of the early rounds might not have known that they weren't supposed to alter the pics on purpose. I hadn't made the rules clear enough at that point.) I expected styles to change and details to alter a bit, especially due to varying skill levels. I also expected teams C and D to have a bigger change since their picture was a nonsense picture. Whereas, A and B's picture had a more cohesive theme.
I had quite a few surprises along the way!

Both teams A and B switched the gender of the mermaid into a rather athletic looking merman. I wouldn't have been so surprised if it was just one team that did that, but the fact that both A and B did it. Interesting! And as for teams C and D, the results were just...LOL, see for yourself! ^_^
Once again, I really do want to thank everyone who participated in this. The results are really fascinating and a lot of fun. And it was really great to see everyone so enthusiastic about the whole project. I never knew quite what I would find in my inbox, and there were a lot of happy and funny surprises. I really enjoyed this, and I hope you guys enjoy looking at the results too!

On a more unfortunate note... I know I'd mentioned running another game in the spring, but I'm afraid I won't be doing so. As much fun as it's been (and it really was very enjoyable), a low (less than 30%) rule-adherence rate meant that I had to deal with issues for every round. This is the first time I've run this game, so the rules may have been confusing leading to honest mistakes. But when nearly 3 out of every 4 pictures were submitted significantly late (at the expense of the next person in line), posted incorrectly, or missing altogether.... I'm afraid I don't have the time or energy to hound people about getting stuff in on time. If someone else would like to do it, however, I'd certainly help publicize it.
And finally, on a very happy note... To anyone who has ever bought one of my prints (either recently or in the past), thank you so much for your support! Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing who you are, but please know that I really appreciate it. I'm flattered and honored that someone out there likes my stuff enough to actually fork over money for it!

Once again, to you generous folks out there, my sincere thanks!

I love how I was the one who purposly destroyed the chain. I looked at the picture for about 4 seconds (not even 5) and i was like "pfftttt, too happy!" The procceeded to make something more funny.
I also love how the fish gets more and more angry and violent looking as it goes down. I think the people in my group have some anger issues LOL!
Great fun though and good laughs, glad I could be part of it
