As many of you know, Anime Expo is coming up this July (yay!) and I've got a table there this year again. I've been wanting to do some more anime-styled art. Probably not entirely anime-styled, but definitely more influenced than the stuff I usually do. I want to do that because I feel somewhat guilty selling so much non-anime styled art in the alley. Although no one's ever really complained. Still....

Anyway, for those of you who like anime and frequent the artist alleys, is there any particular type of art you'd like to see? I do NOT sell fanart, so please don't list shows or characters. But if there are any general themes you'd like to see (like ninjas or Asian dragons or big fluffy creatures or people killing each other with katanas, blah blah, etc.) I'm all ears. Just keep them general rather than specific please.

-----

I want to thank everyone who's been voting in my polls. I've found many of them to be quite eye-opening and educational, and they're always fun for me. I appreciate all your input, both the people who comment and the people who lurk and just vote. It's all good. Thanks!

-----

I saw Forbidden Kingdom yesterday.... It was nice to see Jet Li fighting Jackie Chan in one fight, but as for the rest, um.... :(

I miss the glory days of Jet Li in the 90's. Once Upon a Time in China (the ladder sequence at the end!!!), Tai Chi Master, Fist of Legend. Aaah. Now those were cool martial arts flicks.

-----

And finally, in case you haven't noticed, I'm running a Rurouni Kenshin fanart contest again like I've done every summer since 2004. If you're a Kenshin fan, or if you know of one, or hell, if you're just bored and looking for something different to draw, please check it out. [link] And if you wouldn't mind helping to publicize it by either posting a link or just faving the news article I submitted, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I suggest semirealism style but for a theme, abstract art with humans in it would be kewl:D

and i'll enter your RK contest:heart:

I like semi-realism. :) Thanks for the suggestion!

And I'm glad you're entering the contest. :)

I know this is late (my own fault; I rarely frequent DA these days), but I love your art of the Shinsengumi, or samurai in general! Or Japanese folklore/mythology - I'd imagine that any of those would likely do well at an anime con as well. ... I'd hope. 8D

Ahh, this makes me wish I could take the time off and take the drive down south for AX this year. I'm afraid Fanime will likely be the only con I'll go to this year as well. :< Hope you have a blast in L.A.!!

Are you selling art in Fanime? I'm going there just for fun though, not in the alley. :)

I'm actually going with a couple artist friends of mine; if we do get a table (it's been one hell of a rigmarole trying to get one with two packages of artist's alley applications lost in the mail so far - we already know that the best we could hope for is getting on the wait list and crossing our fingers), we'll be selling art. :D I'm no artist myself, but one of my friends ( ~Varethane ) and I are partners-in-crime on a webcomic, and she's selling art for that so I got pulled into the deal, haha. (That, and I'm hosting her out here in Cali for a week anyway, haha.)

Whee~ Anyway! Maybe I'll see you around the con regardless! :D Shame you aren't going to be in the alley (I'd totally love to buy some of your art), but it's awesome to know that you'll be there somewhere! Hehe.

Aww, I hope you guys can get a table! Varethane's style is lovely. I bet she'd do really well.

The only con I really sell art in is Anime Expo since it's local for me. :) I was thinking of selling at Fanime this year, but then I got so busy with work, I never had time to prepare anything. So those plans fell apart, unfortunately. I'm excited about Fanime though. This will be the first year I attend, my sister lives in the area, and I'm road tripping it there with my friend Dlin. It should be fun!

It would be really cool to see a woman in long flowing cloths casting a spell. Or controlling an element like water or fire. lol sorry if its too specific.

Oh and I love Jet Li's older stuff. I loved Twin warriors, The Legend and the Legend II were cheesy but good to. lol

Thanks, I'll put that on my list. Can't guarantee I'll get to all of the ideas, but I'll try. :)

Yeah! Legend II was great! I don't think I saw the first one though.

how about thinking "video game" stereotypes too?

Basically, advise you to go for "hot guys"... LOL. That seems to work.

LOL, I don't feel like I'm very good at doing hot guys. But yeah, they do seem to do well.
