How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Random Update on... Just About Everything

Hmm, it's been a long while since I visited my DA page.  I apparently hit 100,000 views sometime along the way, and I have no idea when it happened.  All I can say is wow, thanks to everyone who visits my page.  I'm glad you took the time to drop by.

So... a bit of an update on my life.  I've been keeping busy with freelance work for the last few months.  A friend of mine from film school and I decided to start a website/dvd design company, so we've been working our asses off on that.  It's been good so far, and we're able to make enough to cover rent and a bit more, but it's taken up a lot of time.  Especially considering I'm trying to get some minor crewing done on small thesis film shoots and such, and I'm trying to get cinematography jobs here and there.  Also been doing some writing, working on two different screenplays.  (One of them for a small amount of pay, yay!)  I've been freelancing in so many different fields, I'm not even sure what to call myself when people ask me what I do.  Heh heh.

Anyway, I'd limited myself to really posting at only one site for the last few months, and I'm afraid DA wasn't that site.  But  I've got a little more time this month and the next, so I'm back.  I hope everyone has been well.  Apologies for not responding to notes and comments in that time.  I'll try to get to some of them eventually.

I don't really have much to post in my gallery since I haven't finished any serious personal artwork in months.  (Just speedpaints and rough sketches for the most part.) I do have a few commissions to finish up, although I am not taking any new ones until the current batch is done.  But I almost never post those here anyway, so that's not an issue.  I do have one pic I'm going to post later today, but it's just a glorified speedpaint, so blah....

A few things to announce:

I've run a Rurouni Kenshin Fanart Contest every year for the last 3 years.  And I've decided to continue with it this year, although I'm not sure how much of a turnout there will be (since I think the fandom is dwindling in numbers a bit).  But here's my shameless plug for that.  So for those who are aware of my RK site, yes, the contest is on for this year (even though I haven't updated the site itself in ages.)  Please consider submitting some artwork.  The more the merrier!

I'm going to be attending Anime Expo again this summer.  I'm looking forward to seeing friends from DA, Gaia, and RK related sites there.  If you happen to go, please feel free to look for me in artist alley.  Drop by and say hello!

And that's about it for now.  This was a rather pointless Journal post, wasn't it?  Heehee!  ^_^

Oh my. That's a fascinating idea, but I'm afraid I wouldn't begin to know how to judge that compared to 2D artworks. They're so different.

I just don't know how I'd judge a cosplay since there's a bit of acting involved there.

I just didn't understand one thing. If an event is despicted in the OVA, but is just mentioned in the mangá is still considered a Memory? Or it must be an event that is just mentioned and not despicted in any way? Because I'm drawing a pic of the Ikeda Inn incident, which is just mentioned in the mangá (we only see the Shinsengumi after the killing), but is shown in the OVA.
